12-3-18 I Am Hope Isa 43:31

Hi Friends,

As we prepare to celebrate the first coming of our Lord on Christmas Day, we must remember to live preparing for His second coming. The Truth that Jesus will return should fill us with an empowering Hope. Let’s talk about it:

“but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.” Isa 40:31 NIV

I have Hope in Christ. The Hope in the Lord that the Bible speaks of is not the same as a vague wishful thinking. It is a confidence that God is in charge and working all things together for our good. It is an assurance that God loves us and will never leave us nor forsake us. It is our security that God rewards those who seek Him and will bless us here, and then, bring us Home forevermore. Far from being just a possibility, when we Hope in Christ, we can be certain that God’s Plan for us is meant to build up our character and help us lack for nothing. I am paraphrasing several verses here because our Hope in Christ is grounded on God’s Word. Because God is Faithful, because He cannot lie, everything Scripture promises to the believer, God will most assuredly grant. This is why, when we place our Hope in Christ and what He has done on our behalf, we can live the Abundant Life filled to the overflow with peace, joy and righteousness. Hope guides our thoughts towards uplifting ideas. Hope helps us control our emotions so we can remain clear headed and respond with love. Hope teaches us to desire the things of God rather than the things of men. Hope is the power that enables us to get up in the morning and be the best human we can possibly be and to leave this world a better place because we have passed through it. Hope is a confident assurance that keeps us securely at God’s side.

I am hope in Christ. As we continue to mature in Christ, we begin to act like Him more and more. If Jesus is our only Hope, (and He is), then you and I can also be someone else’s hope as we lead them to Jesus. The more we imitate Christ, the more peace, joy and righteousness we will be displaying, no matter what is going on around us. This fallen world is starving for that! For something different than the ever-changing, never satisfying idols of our culture. For someone who will put others ahead of their own wants. For a glimpse of real love and honesty. This society of ours needs to see what true Humility looks like. The more we seek God, the more we learn to think like Jesus, the more we obey the Holy Spirit, the more we become Hope to this hopeless world. We will stay securely at God’s side and live with the confident assurance that Hope brings.

I am Hope in Christ. The Bible encourages us to be able to give reason for our Hope. During this Time of Advent, may we deepen our own understanding of why we can Hope in Christ and may we seek to bring this Hope to everyone God places along our path. This is certainly my goal in Life: to know Him and make Him known. Won’t you join me?

PS Happy Advent!

Until we meet again, keep lifting your eyes to God, He’s closer than you think!
